Watson Consulting Group exists because construction problems are cheaper to prevent than to litigate - and because after 25 years working alongside architects/engineers, builders, owners, and lenders, Derek Watson has watched the same information gaps cause the same expensive surprises.
The Path Here…
Derek's 25 years in AEC didn't start behind a drafting table. A Texas A&M graduate, he built his career at the owner's side — business development and space planning and programming through schematic design at Mabry Architects and as a consultant to GH2 Architects, then client liaison through the rest of design and construction. From there, business development leadership at Jacobe Brothers Construction. That experience across owner representation, design-team coordination, and builder-side business development is why WCG understands the priorities on each side of a project - and why clients often bring us the problem before they define the scope.
Why Three Practices
Documentation, inspection services, and AEC marketing look like three businesses. On a real project they're one job: making sure decisions get made on accurate information. We document what's built. We verify what's funded. We help the people who build tell the story. Different deliverables — same discipline.
